Westringia fruticosa

Description

An evergreen, bushy, rounded shrub that is hardy, fast growing and long-lived. Foliage is 2cm long, straight and narrow, grey to dark green above and white beneath, set neatly in whorls around the stem. The small labiate flowers are slightly scented, white to pale mauve, with reddish to brown spots near the throat. The flowers are present throughout the year but the main flush is in Spring to Summer. Grows in full sun or part shade in most soil conditions, tolerating drought, frost and salt spray. A useful specimen plant, also suited to hedging, screening, erosion control, coastal sites and topiary work. Prune after flowering to maintain a dense habit.
