Ophiopogon japonicus

Mondo Grass

Description

An evergreen, clumping perennial plant with fine, grass-like, dark green leaves. During Summer, white to pale lilac flowers are borne on short racemes at the ends of erect stems, 5-10cm tall. The fruit is a small blue berry. Grows best in partial to full shade but will tolerate full sun. This is a very tough plant that is easy to grow and spreads readily in a moist but well drained soil. Appreciates water during dry Summers and an application of a complete fertiliser in Spring. Good as an edging plant in gardens or along driveways. Also suits being planted in pots.
