Viola hederacea
Native Violets
Description
A medium to fast growing, Australian native perennial groundcover with a sprawling habit and small, bright green kidney-shaped/circular leaves. The delicate Violet flowers are mauve and white. Grows in full sun to heavy shade preferring a moist, well-drained soil. Has a low tolerance of coastal conditions and requires regular watering during dry periods. This is a reliable, compact groundcover suitable for rockeries, beneath trees or palms, alongside garden edges and ponds, spilling over walls or filling in between pavers. Will thrive in shady areas where lawn will not grow. Minimal maintenance is required apart from removing any dead or unwanted foliage.
